We love Valentine’s Day. Why? Because Valentine’s Day is a holiday that celebrates love. It’s really that simple. Although we do our best to celebrate our marriage and love for one another every day, we still thoroughly enjoy a day that is celebrated all over the world to honor love. And what’s more? God is love.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16 KJV)

Bam! Isn’t that beautiful? God loves us and those of us who walk with Him are filled with His love to give to others. And this, friends, makes us happy. And we really love to celebrate our marriage by loving one another well. And we’ve found just the thing.

The VERY BEST Valentine’s Day Gift for Husband and Wife

We strongly believe that the very best Valentine’s Day gift for husband and wife consists of one thing: fully connecting with one another in spirit, body, and mind.

Sounds easy, right? Well finding a gift that can connect all three is actually quite a challenge.

But here is what we have discovered: By taking online courses together through Melt: Massage for Couples, we have been able to give one another all three of these various depths of ourselves (spirit, body, mind) to one another. Being taught by professional Australian massage therapist, Denis Merkas, has equipped us with the tools to bless one another (and our bodies) year-round! Not only have we found a greater depth to our marriage, but we have also found healing from many hardships in our past. And here’s how…

Best Valentine's Day Gift for Couples

SPIRIT

On a spiritual level, we have found that while massaging one another and listening softly to our favorite worship music, it gives us a wonderful way to connect to God and each other. The art of massage has given us a way to help reduce anxiety (Carlie has suffered from this) and PTSD (Michael has suffered from this due his multiple military deployments). We notice a deep spiritual bond with both God and one another when massaging each other.

BODY

The very fact that we are softly touching one another helps connect our bodies and gives us a great transition into sexual intimacy. The art of massage has also given us the ability to find a type of healing from some things that we’ve struggled through in our marriage. For instance, after Carlie had a miscarriage she was not very open to being intimate for a long time. As you know, this can cause tension in a marriage. While we were determined to work through this difficult time in our marriage, we both wanted Carlie’s body to heal and for trust to be restored. Although she knew Michael didn’t have anything to do with losing the baby, she couldn’t help but feel disconnected from the physical act of sex. But being open to a massage led to total healing and restoration in this area of her body, leading to healing in the marriage bed.

TIP: Don’t forget to use your favorite essential oils during your massage!

MIND

We have noticed that we are able to have some great and very focused conversations during our massage time. Our massages help clear the mind and are wonderful for headaches caused by stress, toxins, or anything else. Having the know-how of massage by a professional coach has been a major blessing in this area of our marriage. Some of our best ideas have been born during our massage sessions!
